Picture of the Day 2/15/11

See I told you I would put up a Sports magazine up soon haha. Anyways, this Picture of the Day is from Surfer Magazine's article, Unconventional Wisdom: Winter Edition: Peter Devries and Jeremy Koreski on Enduring a Frigid Canadian Winter. I really love the lighting in this shot that you get from the wave leaving a nice highlight on the surfer's face. I can't even imagine how cold that water is, but I love the colors and saturation of the wave. Here's the caption: "Peter Devries, suited up and ready to take on an icy tube. Also in the water, but on the other side of the lens, Jeremy Koreski is even more at the mercy of the elements. Photograph by: ©Jeremy Koreski. Picture of the Day for 2/14/11....Happy Valentine's Day Everyone :)

Picture of the Day for 2/13/11

Once again here is the Picture of the Day, its from National Geographic, but its from the Top Ten Photos From 2010 by Chris Johns. I picked this one because I saw this photograph at one of the exhibits for this particular exhibit in Los Angeles at The Annemberg Space for Photography and it was one of my favorites. Here's his opinion: "Paolo takes this tough story about water in the Middle East and the politics that surrounds this combustible part of the world and makes this honest, open photo we can all relate to." -Chris Johns. I would definitely have to agree with this opinion because the photo itself is one that captures the essence of how important water is to the world. Here's the caption: "Girls from a West Bank village cool off in the salt-laden waters of the Dead Sea. Its main tributary, the Jordan River, is depleted by drought, pollution, and overuse and has been a source of conflict between Israel and its neighbors for decades." Picture of the Day for 2/12/11

Here is my Picture of the Day and it is once again from the same article in National Geographic, The Long, Curious, Extravagant Evolution of Feathers: If feathers did not evolve first for flight, what was their purpose? This photo really captured my attention right off the bat it was the opening image when I entered the site for this article and I was in complete awe, fascination, and amazement if you will because once again I love the lighting on the feather showing its detail, the saturation of the feather, the angle that it was taken at and the choice of the background being black. I hope you guys like it. Here's the caption: "Red bird of paradise: Flank plumes, display Institute of Zoology and Zoological Museum, University of Hamburg." Picture of the Day for 2/11/11

Sorry I am doing really terrible at my new blog had a really busy weekend. Here is my Picture of the Day, its once again from National Geographic, but it is from their new article, The Long, Curious, Extravagant Evolution of Feathers: If feathers did not evolve first for flight, what was their purpose? Don't worry I will post more photos from Sports magazines, I just thought that National Geographic has been doing a great job with their new articles as they always do. Anyways, what captured my attention was the center of interest on the feather and the lighting was executed very well showing the detail in the feather and it was very nicely done. Here's the caption: "King bird of paradise: Disk tail-feather tip, wobbles during display, Courtesy Peter Mullen, Ph.D." Photograph by: ©Robert Clark, type in this link to go to their site to check out more of these photos and maybe read the article: http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/2011/02/feathers/clark-photography

Picture of the Day 2/10/11

Here is my Picture of the Day for today I hope you all really enjoy it, its once again from National Geographic's article Reefs to Relics. I really enjoyed this shot because right away I was in awe at the size of this satellite and also I looked right at the diver pointing the light which is a great centering of focus. Here's the caption: "A radar dish atop the sunken General Hoyt S. Vandenberg used to track missiles off Cape Canaveral. Now it gives the new artificial reef an otherworldly profile that attracts fish and divers." Photograph by: ©David Doubilet
